On the 1st of this month, Fortune magazine analyzed Buffett’s longevity in an article titled, ‘What is Buffett’s secret to longevity? Coca-Cola, candy, and the joy of life.’

Buffett’s childlike palate is well-known. In a 2015 interview with Fortune, he stated, ‘I eat like a 6-year-old child.’

He is known to enjoy potato sticks and consumes five 12-ounce (355 ml) servings of Coca-Cola daily. According to the 2017 HBO documentary ‘Becoming Warren Buffett,’ he stops by McDonald’s every morning for a $3.17 menu that includes two sausage patties or eggs, cheese, and bacon, along with a glass of cola. He often visits fast-food restaurants for lunch, enjoying a sundae with cherry syrup and chopped nuts alongside a hot dog, and snacks on candy or chocolate.

During his visit to Korea in 2007, Buffett also enjoyed cola and hamburgers, and he had the same menu for lunch in 2011.

Buffett is quoted as saying, ‘The doctors who told me to watch my diet all died before I did.’ In a 2017 CNBC interview, he noted, ‘I believe happiness makes a huge difference in longevity. I feel happier when I eat a sundae or drink cola.’

Fortune pointed out that despite Buffett’s diet being far from health food, his longevity can be attributed to other lifestyle habits, particularly sufficient sleep and mental activity.

In a 2017 PBS interview, Buffett said, ‘I love to sleep,’ aiming for eight hours each night. According to research presented by the American Heart Association, good sleep can extend a person’s lifespan, as reported by Fortune.

Buffett is also known to spend at least eight hours a week playing bridge with friends. He stated, ‘I play a lot of games,’ adding that ‘every seven minutes, I encounter a new intellectual challenge. It’s the best exercise for the brain,’ as he mentioned in a Washington Post interview.

Above all, Fortune emphasized that Buffett’s most crucial secret to longevity is his attitude of gratitude for what he has and focusing on what he loves.

When asked about his health secrets in 2008, Buffett pointed to Vice Chairman Charlie Munger, asking, ‘If Charlie and I can’t maintain a good mental attitude, who can?’ He continued, ‘We have great partners, excellent managers, and wonderful families. How can we be anything but blessed in life?’ He stressed the importance of relationships, stating, ‘At my age, the success of life is determined by how many people actually love me among those I hope will love me.’”
